About Us

Kirstin and Megan are passionate educators and the dedicated administrators of Pippin Grove, a creative Charlotte Mason and classical homeschool support program in Chico, California. With extensive backgrounds in homeschooling and unwavering commitment to nurturing a love for learning, they desire to create an invaluable resource for homeschooling families seeking a holistic and enriching educational experience.

Kirstin’s journey in education began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University, Chico. She worked as a speech therapist in multiple settings including schools, hospitals, and a private practice. Her time as a therapist was put on hold when her oldest child turned 6 and she was able to stay home full time to more fully focus her efforts on homeschooling her children. Through her 10+ years of homeschooling she developed a deep appreciation for Charlotte Mason and classical approaches to education. Inspired by the principles of these methodologies, she recognized their potential to cultivate independent thinkers, foster a love for literature and the arts, and instill a lifelong love for learning.

Kirstin and her husband Steve have homeschooled their four children in Montana, Southern California, and in Chico, California and have recognized the need for a supportive community that would provide resources, guidance, and encouragement to families who wished to adopt the Charlotte Mason and classical philosophies within their homeschooling journey.

Artful Archives

Kirstin and Megan founded Pippin Grove, aiming to create a vibrant and nurturing environment for families seeking an alternative educational path. Through Artful Archives, Megan and Kirstin empower parents to become confident educators by providing comprehensive curriculum guidance and by fostering an atmosphere of creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking. They believe in the power of hands-on experiences, nature study, and living books to spark a child’s imagination and deepen their understanding of various subjects. This program encourages students to explore a wide range of artistic expressions, such as handicrafts, games, and art, fostering a well-rounded and holistic approach to their scientific and historical education.
